GWR Window Replacement

the whole reason we called was because two of the windows in the back had fogged up between the panes and wouldnt stay shut right, and once we started looking we realized all of them were shot. rather than deal with one at a time we just did the entire house. the estimate was straightforward and they laid out what the job would involve without a bunch of upselling. install ran two and a half days. they were careful pulling the old frames out and the new ones went in clean. what i noticed right away was how much less street noise comes in now, we live near a busy road and it used to be constant. the fogging problem is obviously gone and the windows actually open and close the way theyre supposed to. one of the older windows had some rot around it that they took care of when they set the new frame. took care of the mess before they left too. the price landed about where i expected after getting a couple other numbers. good outfit, no complaints from me on how any of it went!

our old windows were the original ones from when the house was built and every winter we basically heated the outside. you could feel cold air coming through even with them shut. we finally decided to replace all of them at once instead of doing it piecemeal. got a few estimates and these guys were the only ones who explained what was causing the drafts and why doing the whole house made more sense than picking off a few rooms at a time. the install took about three days total. they pulled out every old window and put the new ones in and the fit was tight, no gaps or anything. first cold snap after and i could stand right next to the glass and not feel that cold coming through. the difference on our heating bill showed up the next month too. the team was easy to deal with and answered my questions even when they were probably dumb ones. glad we didnt keep putting this off like we had been for years

the first call with them was easy, the guy they sent out to measure didnt do the whole pushy salesman thing which was a relief after the last company we had over. quote was detailed, line by line so we knew what we were paying for. when we were comparing options around Evanston there were a few companies but GWR felt the most straightforward. windows came in a little earlier than they predicted which was a nice surprise. install crew showed up at 8 sharp both days, three guys worked through the whole house and they were careful pulling out the old frames since some were pretty rotted. the cleanup was thorough, you couldnt tell anyone had been working inside. one of the windows had a tiny scratch on the glass and they ordered a replacement pane without us even having to push for it. the whole thing felt handled

Our previous windows were leaking air so bad you could feel the cold sitting on the couch in winter. Got quotes from a few places and GWR was the one that actually explained what was going on with the seals and why a full replacement made more sense than trying to patch things. They did all 14 windows over two days. The house feels totally different now, no more cold spots near the living room and the heating bill dropped noticeably.

got all our windows replaced through GWR and it went well. the whole thing was pretty straightforward, they gave us a quote, we agreed on a timeline and they got it done. looked at a couple other options around Skokie but these guys had better availability and the price was right. new windows look good and you can tell the difference when it gets windy outside. house feels tighter if that makes sense. no complaints, everything was handled well
